Tigers manager Jim Leyland had nothing to say about Monday night’s most memorable scene. He was happy to talk about Detroit’s 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. With Leyland in the clubhouse after being ejected for an argument that lasted several minutes and included three of the four umpires, Jhonny Peralta hit a tiebreaking [...]

Add to myYahoo!Jonny Gomes had an outstanding homecoming. Gomes hit a towering homer, Mike Leake pitched six strong innings and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0 on Monday night. Gomes, the former Rays outfielder playing at Tropicana Field for the first time since becoming a free agent after the 2008 season, hit a solo [...]

Favorite Moment in Cinematic History: "Oh, this is a tough one. There are so many to choose from... Probably when the black wolf was chasing Benji in Benji the Hunted and the black wolf ends up flying off a cliff. Either that or the solo dance scene in the barn in Footloose, which is even more powerful than Emilio Estevez's baked dance scene in The Breakfast Club. I love dance. And dogs."

Favorite Moment in Cinematic History: "Easy. The urethral scream of 'bruno' in Bruno. I haven't enjoyed something that much since I went to my first movie in the theater when I was five. It was The Program. I showed all of my kindergarten friends how to play the lying in the street game. It was awesome."
A match-up for the ages. A personal rivalry as old as time. These men do not like the cut of one another's jib. Not one bit.
Let's hope you got your nap in. This West Coast thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Add to myYahoo!Highest ERA: 85+ IP, 1.075 WHIP or lower (1900-2011)
Josh Tomlin (Indians, 2011) 3.95 ERA, 1.056 WHIP
Phil Ortega (Senators, 1966) 3.92, 1.07
Don Mossi (Tigers, 1963) 3.74, 1.035
Ralph Terry (Indians, 1965) 3.69, 1.07, 1.07
LaMarr Hoyt (White Sox, 1983) 3.66, 1.024
Rollie Shelton (Yankees, 1964) 3.61, 1.075
Orlando Pena (Tigers/Indians, 1967) 3.59, 1.04
Curt Schilling (Phillies, 1995) 3.57, 1.052
Bill Faul (Cubs, 1965) 3.54, 1.045
The good news for Josh Tomlin is that most of his ERA troubles stem from 3 starts at the beginning of June, where he allowed 18 ER over 17 IP, and he's has improved since then. Over his last 2 starts, he's 2-0 with 4 ER over 13 IP. Even with a 6.60 ERA in June, he's only allowed 2 BB with 20 ER. It seems likely that his ERA will continue to come down (it was 3.27 after 10 starts, and it's already come down from 4.14 to 3.95).

Add to myYahoo!I?m not a big college basketball fan anymore. But growing up, I loved it. The Big East was so much fun to watch in the 1980?s. From St. John?s to Villanova. UConn to Georgetown (actually, I only enjoyed watching Georgetown…[...]

Add to myYahoo!Watching the video below makes me sick. Knowing it's the last live footage that Bryan Stow's kids may ever get to see of their dad is absolutely disheartening, to say the least.
Clearly, there is some kind of confrontation going on in the video, obtained by TMZ and it appears that Stow is doing a good job restraining himself.
The Dodgers fan in the video is seen wearing a blue jersey with the name Banda and the number 23.
Reportedly, the cops want to bring this guy in for questioning. He may not be one of the culprits who beat Stow to a bloody pulp in the parking lot after a March 31st game at Dodger Stadium, but he may be a person of interest for the LAPD.
By the way, I checked all the baseball databases I know, and I could not find a Dodgers player -- past or present -- with the name Banda, typically a Mexican surname. This could very well be this dude's own name on a Casey Blake jersey. We also can tell it's not Giovanni Ramirez, the suspect who's already in jail on a parole violation.
Interactions like the one seen in the video above are commonplace, not just at Dodger Stadium, but at ballparks across America. And as long as they stay non-violent, what's the harm?
But when those interactions turn into violent acts like the one that occurred on Opening Night in Los Angeles, those involved -- and the sport itself -- really suffer.
