Add to myYahoo! That catch Justin Christian made Wednesday night in LA was about as good as they get, but it will be costing the Giants outfielder at least the next 15 days to recover from.
The Giants made a roster move prior to Thursday's game with the Braves, sending Christian to the 15-day DL with a sprained wrist and calling up Francisco Peguero from the Fresno Grizzlies to take his spot.
Andrew Baggarly ranked the solid-hitting outfielder 5th among Giants prospects heading into the 2011 season after Peguero hit a combined .337 the previous three seasons with A San Jose and AA Richmond. This year though, the 24 year-old has taken a step back, and is hitting just .272 with a .691 OPS. He does have 68 RBI and has 10 triples on the season, but the one stat that is really disappointing for him is the 1 in the stolen base column. For a guy who had 40 steals in 2010, that's a major drop off right there, and as far as I know, there's nothing limiting him physically. So, on one hand there's the great production he showed pre-2012 with a 2010 Futures game appearance, but on the other hand, you have the guy who's largely disappointed in Fresno this year (sans the RBI total).
I've always liked Peguero, and I too ranked him inside the top-10 in our annual prospect ranking as well. I also don't mind him getting a shot in this situation. Christian was simply not getting the job done at the plate and I don't think Peguero can fair any worse. He's a good defender, and if he can hit for some average and display some of that speed we know he has, he very well could become the Giants regular left fielder. It may not be an answer in the long run, but at least it's an attempt.

Add to myYahoo!McCann is back in the lineup. I hope his arm doesn't fall off.
Jason Heyward hitting .458 (11-24) with 3 HR in six games at SF, but is 0-6 against Zito. Uggla is 4-34 in his last 10 games, all four hits extra-base hits (2 doubles, 2 HR); he's slugging .369, third-lowest in the NL. Hanson last faced the Giants in April 2011 during Atlanta's three-game sweep; he has lasted seven innings in each of his three previous starts against them.
Stay up late and root for a win! GO BRAVES!

Anyways, the pitchers on the mound are:
Jose Cisnero: 6 IP, 2 hits, 1 runs(earned), 3 BB, 5 k's(not as awesome as it once was)
Rob Rasumussen: 5 IP, 3 hits, 0 runs, 4 BB, 5 k's
David Martinez
Luis Ordosgotti: 3 IP, 7 hits, 4 runs(all earned), 0 BB, 3 k's, 1 HR, 32GS
Brian Holmes: 5 IP, 6 hits, 2 runs(both earned), 4 BB, 3 k's, 54 GS
Daniel Minor(favorite): 7 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs(1 earned), 1 BB, 5 k's, 65 GS
So, since this needs to be 75 words long, I'll just say that I love everybody, and that if you comment, you must admit what you had for dinner. I had hamburger steaks with mashed potatoes and blueberry muffins.

Add to myYahoo! He started his Major League Baseball career with the Chicago Cubs, but spent the majority of his career playing left field for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985.
Among his many credentials he was blessed with great speed and base running. However, when the Cubs lost patient with him after two seasons and a .260 average, they traded him to the St. Louis Cardinals.
With the Cardinals this outstanding player did a complete turn around. Continuing to play left field, he earned a .368 batting average and stole 38 bases in 1964. And the rest is history. The trade with the Cubs was considered to be one of the most lopsided deals in baseball. Today Cardinal fans will forever remember Lou Brock when they marvel at his statute standing outside Busch Stadium with other baseball greats.
