Perez, who turns 25 next week, was 0-1 with a 9.53 ERA in 14 appearances for Triple-A Charlotte. Last season, he was 6-2 with a 2.10 ERA and 16 saves in 59 appearances out of the bullpen at Double-A Birmingham. (Indians.com)Oneli Perez was with the White Sox, and now he is with Triple A Buffalo. He takes the 40 man roster spot of Jason Tyner who is still designated. Roster Updates coming near the end of the week with Jake and Joe returning to the active roster.

Add to myYahoo!Jake Westbrook will make another rehab start before coming off the DL next week. That start puts him right on track to pitch in Aaron Laffey's place, who will make his final start for now on Thursday.
Joe Borowski is a little closer. He pitched a scoreless inning last night in Lake County and will pitch again tomorrow for Akron. He could come off the DL by the end of the week. Aubrey would get sent down."Westbrook will make a second rehab start Friday for Class AA Akron. He made his first rehab start Sunday for Class A Lake County, but rain knocked him out in the fourth inning.
"I was hoping I would only have to make one start," said Westbrook, "but the rain got me in the fourth inning. I think they were leaning toward me making two rehab starts anyway." (Plain Dealer)

Add to myYahoo!Erick Aybar's pinkie injury is sufficient to put him on the 15-day DL, and possibly miss up to three weeks. In his place, the Angels activated Chone Figgins.

So besides the loss last night that led to my little rant this morning, the major news for the Rockies yesterday was Troy Tulowitzki taking batting practice for the first time since he went on the DL. So far, no hiccups in Tulo's recovery, which is good to hear. We'll still get healthy in the pitching staff first, with Kip Wells, Jason Hirsh and Luis Vizcaino all making progress toward their returns. At that point, I suppose many here will be relieved to note that we can demote Alberto Arias, who gave up two runs last night and earned much scorn, for the Viz. That should put us over the top.
Okay, sorry for my sarcasm. I swear I'll drop it now. Anyway, the Rockies can salvage their second straight series victory with a win today by giving Ubaldo Jimenez the kind of backing pitchers willing to throw at Coors Field deserve. I'm talking about eight or nine runs, not the five or less we've been churning out since the season began.

Add to myYahoo! My daughter had one of those nights last night - those of you who have/had a four year-old will know what I mean. She's tired because she'd been up late the night before, and she's hungry because she's four and often just decides that playing is more fun than eating, so she's got what's known in the business as a hysteria hair-trigger. It's the sort of thing where the difference between hot cocoa and chocolate milk can cause an emotional Chernobyl. In case you're wondering, these sort of shenanigans are exactly why children evolved to be cute: it's nature making sure they survive.During one of her bouts of passion, she had taken a basket full of her various hair dressing items - hair bands, combs, little scrunchie things - and one-by-one flung them about the hallway as a statement of general displeasure. We've learned that the best way to handle these situations is to just walk away and let her complete her cycle of rage. Approaching her merely inflames things, both because it reminds her who she's mad at, and because it gives her the belief that, having clearly engaged us in the process, she is mere moments of psychological assault away from getting what she wants. As time has gone on, and our ability to ignore the fireworks has become more robust, these fits have become shorter, simply because she's not gotten the attention she so clearly wants from them. True, in the beginning she's really angry, but as the show winds down, you can hear her trying to keep it going, pushing herself to cry just a little bit more in the hopes that someone will come and give her reason to ramp up again. Eventually, she comes to you and apologizes, or at least asks for a hug. Of course, there's often a post-apocalyptic mess to deal with, like there was last night, and one must make the delicate decision as to whether she will be made to do the deed as is her just dessert, or whether you'll be sucking it up and handling it later in the interest of Peace In Our Time. It's a critical decision, one that has the potential to make or break your entire evening, so it's important to stay level-headed, important to keep your wits about you so that you're able to assess the situation on the ground and make a clear call about the relative likelihood of beginning the cycle anew; because the truth is, we've found there's little or nothing to be gained in the way of a 'life lesson' by cracking the whip when the child is this young, and despite the apologies and affection, the fact is they're often still waiting for any reason to re-light the flamethrower.Such was the case last night, and after taking an appraisal of the damage, both physical and spiritual, realized that the pile in our primary walkway was best dealt with by a neutral party after all was fully quiet, that enforcing a level of responsibility would not so much instill a sense that actions beget consequences, as reintroduce fuel to a mound of smoldering kindling. These are the hard choices that come the way of parents. You want to teach your child to be a good citizen, but sometimes they're simply not open to the lesson. The trick is being able to strike that balance and sense when you can teach, and when you should back off. Last night was very clearly the latter.

Luckily only two games on the slate last night, making the Pebble Report easy to do this morning. My most recent farm report post compared the different fortunes in 2008 of the Rockies two top pitching prospects heading into the season, Franklin Morales and Greg Reynolds.
Colorado Springs: W 3-2
The two hottest bats in the PCL heading into this contest were left handed sluggers Seth Smith and Ian Stewart. For the first time in two weeks, neither of them did much of note, but luckily a third left-handed slugger was there to pick up the slack. Joe Koshansky, therefore, gets the props this morning for his three hit, two RBI night that led the Sox to a close victory over Kirk Saarloos and Sacramento. Respect should go to Saarloos, who held Stewart and Smith to a zero for seven night with just one walk, but some respect should also be given to Glendon Rusch, who in his system debut for the Sky Sox allowed just two hits in five innings and struck out five.
Asheville: W 10-2
Sheng An Kuo gave up ten hits in his eight innings, but he did pitch eight innings. He walked none, struck out six and got a quality start for the fourth time in his last five appearances. The offense was obviously there to back him, including two hits each for Darin Holcomb and Jeff Cunningham. Cunningham homered and doubled and drove in four. Jhoulys Chacin is having another terrific start right now in a day game, but the Tourists are currently down two to one in the eighth inning.
