Yost not upset with players remarks (AP)

Brewers manager Ned Yost isn’t upset with outfielder Ryan Braun’s comments that the team lacked confidence while being swept in Boston, saying Tuesday that any team that is losing will question itself. After the Brewers lost their fifth in a row, 11-7 to Boston on Sunday, Braun said, “I almost felt like this series, we [...]

Game 46, Mariners at Tigers

4:05 our time. Silva v Verlander.

CF-L Ichiro
3B-R Beltre
2B-R Lopez
LF-L Ibanez
DH-B Vidro
1B-R Sexson
C-R Johjima
RF-R Balentien
SS-R Betancourt

Lopez-Ibanez-Vidro? Really?

Detroit:
CF-L Granderson
2B-R Polanco
DH-R Sheffield (with a batting average under Vidro’s!)
RF-R Ordonez
1B-R Cabrera
3B-B Guillen
LF-L Joyce
SS-R Renteria
C-R Rodriguez (currently the only listed catcher on the Tigers roster)

Four righties in a row (I had to go back to the roster page do double-check that) — no wonder they’re struggling so much.

A-Rod is Back, but Yanks Still Stink

The Yanks fell to 5 games under .500 with another embarrassing loss. This time losing 12-2 to the Baltimore Orioles. Mike Mussina started, had nothing, and didn't last very long. He allowed 7 runs (1 earned), on 5 hits and 2 walks. The reason for all those unearned runs was a throwing error by Derek Jeter with two outs and just one run in. On the play Robinson Cano, apparently sleeping at 2nd, didn't cover 2nd base which is where Jeter thought the play was going to go, and caused Jeter to make a bad throw. Not an excuse, Jeter still needs to make that throw. It was only 1-0 at the time and as a pitcher Mussina can't let that get to him. He needs to be able to put it behind him and get the final out, but he couldn't and the flood gates opened.

Ross Ohlendorf came in to replace Mussina and did OK. He did allow 3 runs, but 2 of those were also unearned because of an error by Johnny Damon in left.

Latroy Hawkins pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, and threw at Luke Scott two times. The second time was at his head, and cleared the benches but no punches were thrown. Hawkins was ejected, and will likely be suspended. This was retaliation for Derek Jeter being hit on the hand in 3rd inning. I'm glad Hawkins defended his teammate, but why can't this team just hit a guy in the back instead of throwing at their heads and ended up being ejected and suspended.

Edwar Ramirez was next out of the pen and pitched well again, throwing 1.1 scoreless. ... Jose Veras pitched the 8th and gave up a 2-run bomb to Luke Scott. And Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless 9th.

Battle of the Birds Photos - Part of the "Battle
of The Beltways"...

The Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles played in a three games series this weekend at Camden Yards; however, before the games of the field began, 'The Bird' from the Orioles & 'Screech' from the Nationals met up at the ESPN Zone in Downtown Baltimore to see who was the supreme mascot.

They both competed in a series of challenges including: horse races, tug-o-war, arm wrestling, basketball free-throw shooting, and an egg race. After the contest, the mascots signed autographs signing and photos.

However, it looks the 'The Bird' won the 'Battle of the Birds'.

I could not make the event, but Leigh Friedman of the ESPN Zone provides us the pictures. If you're ever in the Inner Harbor, visit the ESPN Zone -- Leigh and the staff there will take care of you, and will make sure you enjoy a small part of Charm City.
