Make it seven. The Royals got a serviceable start from Everett Teaford and another huge offensive night en route to another victory. I almost felt like a Red Sox or Yankees fan tonight: long innings, an endless string of hits, bottom of the order guys contributing with extra base knocks... wow.

Apparently the Astros have decided to get a head start on Spring Training. I thought Friday night was a one time thing but it might be the norm for the final two weeks of the season. As a fan I feel jipped, I didn't invest in this team for them to start playing Spring Training games in September, that's what Spring Training games are for. Sure there are guys you want to evaluate but shoving everyone on the roster into one game isn't going to tell you anything significant.
Besides the new status quo, the Astros joined a majority of other Major League teams in adding 100 loss season to their resume.
Henry Sosa was the starting pitcher on this momentous occasion going 6 innings while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks. One of those runs and four of those five walks came in the first inning, which is an inning Sosa seems to struggle with. After that inning though he didn't allow a run to score until the fourth inning when he gave up a leadoff home run to Bryan LaHair. Overall a very good outing for Sosa who looks to compete for the fifth starting spot in the rotation next year.
The Astros lone run came on an error by the Cubs in the first inning when a Carlos Lee grounder to third was thrown away allowing Jordan Schafer, who had leadoff the game with a double, to score. The Astros actually had 9 hits and 4 walks on offense but were unable to push the tieing run across the plate. In the 9th inning the Astros had the bases loaded with one out against left handed Sean Marshall. After Jose Altuve struck out for the second out Mills decided to empty his bench and send up Humberto Quintero for Brian Bogusevic.

Although their shaky playoff hopes absorbed another blow Saturday night with a 6-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, the Angels know they can’t afford to succumb to self-imposed pressure. “It’s the elephant in the room,” first baseman Mark Trumbo said.
