Add to myYahoo!Bill Hall broke out of a slump with his first career grand slam Monday night, a seventh-inning shot that powered the Milwaukee Brewers to a 10-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Hall was in a 1-for-22 rut when he connected off reliever Todd Coffey, the Brewers’ first grand slam since 2005. It was an appropriate [...]

Last night, the Orioles found themselves down, but not out of it, in the first game of a three game series with
The Orioles have now won 4 in a row, and are now over .500.
The game started off poorly as Adam Loewen struggled with his command, as he walked five and didn?t make it out of the 4th inning, where the Orioles would trail 6-0.
In addition, the Orioles made 3 errors on one play in the third inning, which Huff made two and Bako made one.
Pitcher Jeremy Guthrie earned his first win as he pitched 2 1/3 innings, and gave up a run, but more importantly, kept the Orioles in the game. The bullpen further locked down the game with Chas Bradford, John Parrish, Danys Baez and Chris Ray came in for his 4th save.
Bench player Freddie Bynum made the most of his opportunity to start (Corey Patterson is out on bereavement leave), as he drove in 3 runs with a huge 2-run homer and drove Jay Gibbons in the 7th inning to put the team ahead for good.
Melvin Mora also hit a 2-run homer, Huff hit a homer a well, and several guys had key hits to contribute to the offensive rally.

During the Royals series, I spoke to Orioles front executive, Jim Duquette so far while he was talking to someone in the stands. I told him I was wrong about the investment towards the bullpen so far (I had criticized the Orioles to no end about their off-season spending). He quipped, "Glad it's been the case so far, thanks for the notice and support."
The bullpen has been the saving grace for the Baltimore Orioles, as it has kept us in close games and allowed the team to be much in better position to win, which was not the case last year. Baltimore Sun writer, John Eisenberg believes so far that the Orioles have been right on the money when it has come to their bullpen.
Aubrey Huff returned to the Tampa Bay area and played against the Devil Rays, the team he broke in with; however, he got jeered pretty badly.
As it is, the Orioles have not had their regular season lineup take the field, as Ramon Hernandez and Jay Payton have not played a game this season, while Corey Patterson is out on bereavement leave. However, the Orioles have found a way to win.
Jorge Arangure reports although Jon Knott and Adam Stern may be on the roster now, they will back in the minors by the end of the week. Both Ramon Hernandez and Jay Payton should be back by the
