Kent K'd

The Dodgers get two on with two out for Jeff Kent in the bottom of the seventh. Hamels strikes him out looking with a pitch on the outside corner. There have been lots of complaints about the strike zone tonight,...

What Will The Dodgers Look Like Next Year

We were beat by a better team!  Pure and Simple!  Our last game was all about Chad Billingsley’s inability to step up in a big game, about Raffy’s 3 errors in an inning and Manny’s heroic effort to carry the Dodgers.  BUT, IT’S OVER!  WE HAD A GREAT RUN.  IT WAS FUN AND WE HAVE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF!  THIS IS A YOUNG TEAM.  OUR FUTURE IS BRIGHT!

This could easily be a 15,000 word tome, but no one can really predict what will happen:  Who we will sign, who we will trade, he will get injured, who will step up.  But, we do have lots of options and I thought I would list some of them.  This I know:  Barring a trade, Blake DeWitt will be be our starter at 2B or 3B.  We could re-sign Casey Blake or trade for Adrian Beltre (doubtful) and DeWitt would play 2B, or DeWitt could play 3B and we could try Ivan DeJesus, Jr. at 2B, or we could sign O-Dog.   Will we sign Manny, Casey or D-Lowe?  How about Raffy?  WHILE WE ARE AT IT, HOW ABOUT NED OR JOE OR LARRY?  The successful teams grow their own (Phillies, Rays) and trade for or sign players when they are out of favor or not wanted (Lidge, Victorino).  There are no right answers for us.  But there are a few (actually a lot) options:

1B  - Loney, Teixiera (sign Tex and Loney moves to LF and we don’t sign Manny)

2B - DeWitt, Hernandez, DeJesus, Cano, Martin

SS - Hu, Berroa, Furcal, DeJesus, Hardy

3B - DeWitt, Blake, Beltre, Martin

LF - Pierre, Ethier, Loney, Young, Repko, Lambo, Dunn

CF - Jones, Kemp, Pierre

RF - Ethier, Kemp, Young, Repko

C- Martin, Ellis, Ardion, Varitek, Rodriguez, Laird, Martinez

There are lots of choices and I’m sure I left a few out.  One move precipitates another.  It’s hard to predict what will happen.

Consider this:

Lineup:

  1. Ethier  RF
  2. Martin  C
  3. Loney  LF
  4. Teixiera  1B
  5. Hardy  SS
  6. Kemp  CF
  7. DeWitt  2B
  8. Hall  3B

Rotation:

Don’t spaz out!  There are so many options…

Watch and enjoy.

Martin, Kemp, DeWitt, Billingsley and Ethier did not deliver during the NLCS.  Will they grow?  So many questions…

I think Scott Elbert can be our closer next year.  If we have 5 starters McDonald has shown he can pitch out of the pen…  Brazoban should be healthy, maybe less fat!  Ditto for Andruw Jones.

Corey Wade!  Wow!

Saito?  Sianarah

Broxton?  No Comment!

I won’t be blogging regularly until February, but I will sneek a post in now and again.  You all have been great this year.  I appreciate your support, but now I have a book to write.  I need to get busy.  Carry on…

Forever Dodger Blue!

Manny Mashes

Hamels keeps the bases clear for Manny Ramirez as he hits a two-out home run in the bottom of the sixth. That's his fourth home run this post-season and extends his career record to 28. The Dodgers now trail 5-1....

RR Royals #3 Prospect

#1 Mike Moustakas, 3B
#2 Eric Hosmer, 1B
#3 ???

Voting kinda stalled, so Hosmer is the winner for the #2 poll

Vote for who you believe is the Royals #3 prospect.

Short scouting reports:

Daniel Cortes | RHP | 21-years-old | 6-foot-6, 225 pounds
-Big workhorse body, fastball sits 93-96 and can peak higher. Already has plus curve. Changeup still lags a bit, as does command of fastball.

Daniel Duffy | LHP | 19-years-old | 6-foot-3, 185 pounds
-Four pitch lefty. Fastball 88-93, has been clocked higher in the past. Good curve, good change, both potential to be plus. Still needs to improve fastball command, but made huge strides this year thanks to improved mechanics.

Kila Ka'aihue | 1B | 24-years-old | 6-foot-3, 230 pounds
-Tremendous plate discipline with very good power. Defense at 1B isn't particularly great, but it plays. Charts all of his AB's and strives to get better. Not a great minor league track record. Nearly big league ready if not already there.

Tim Melville | RHP | 18-years-old | 6-foot-5, 205 pounds
-Extremely projectable with present stuff. Already 91-94 with chance for plus curve and change. Scouts love his long term fastball projection, think he could throw very hard.

Carlos Rosa | RHP | 24-years-old | 6-foot-1, 185 pounds
-Smallish righty with great fastball. Ranges 92-95 with a little sink. Plus hard slider, his best pitch. Good change but inconsistent. Might be a bullpen guy long term. Nearly big league ready.

Poll
Who is the Royals #3 prospect? (players listed in alphabetical order)
  • Daniel Cortes, RHP
  • Daniel Duffy, LHP
  • Kila Ka'aihue, 1B
  • Tim Melville, RHP
  • Carlos Rosa, RHP
  • Other (give reason)
