Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw and manager Don Mattingly have been ejected from a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Kershaw was tossed in the sixth inning Wednesday night after his inside pitch struck Arizona’s Gerardo Parra on the right elbow. Mattingly rushed out of the dugout to argue with home plate umpire Bill [...]

Add to myYahoo! No champagne. No wild celebration. The Philadelphia Phillies are back in the postseason for the fifth straight year, and that’s exactly what they expected. Roy Halladay pitched his 20th career shutout and Philadelphia became the first team to reach the playoffs this season with a 1-0 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday.

Add to myYahoo!Josh Hamilton provided a spectacular capper to the Texas Rangers’ most productive inning in almost two years. Hamilton’s third career grand slam highlighted an eight-run fourth and Derek Holland pitched seven effective innings as the Rangers beat the Cleveland Indians 9-1 on Wednesday night. Hamilton’s 21st homer and Mike Napoli’s 26th were the key blows [...]

Add to myYahoo! The Tampa Bay Rays couldn’t hide their disappointment after losing another game to last-place Baltimore. The Rays botched an excellent opportunity to gain ground in the wild-card race, getting only three hits over seven innings against Jeremy Guthrie in a 6-2 loss to the Orioles on Wednesday night.

Add to myYahoo!Television provides a great way to relax after a hard days work. And I always enjoy watching a good program.
From the days of black and white TV on a tiny screen to living color symbolized by the NBC peacock, from I Love Lucy to Jay Leno, millions of people stay glued to their TV sets.
It doesn't take much to get me interested in a TV show. But commercial interruptions make me mad. Why? Because most of them say absolutely nothing about the product or service.
Look at the following scenarios:
"We wanted to save money for__college education, so we taught him how to dunk..." That darn green lizard drives me crazy.
"We've been selling 'Gold' for over sixty years..." That man in the executive suit makes it sound so easy.
"Ford...we have a BIG SELECTION right here on our lot...so come on down..."
The sales clerk didn't know anything about the product. All they could do was direct traffic to a specific area of the store or the check out counter.
Shopping is a relative term. So consumers must do their homework.
If you are looking for a car I suggest you read a Consumer Report. Google. Talk to other people.
Looking for an insurance policy? Get a sample copy of the policy and have it notarized by an insurance company representative.
Maybe you're looking for a good book. (http://amzn.to/ktuge9) Look at the review and description summary. Read other peoples comments about the book. Notice the ranking?how many stars does it have? Check it out at your local library. Maybe it's a 99 cent ebook bargain on Amazon.
I don't know anything about Gold investments. I'd have to do a lot of research. Perhaps find an expert who could walk me through all the jargon.
We live in THE INFORMATION AGE with easy access to computers. So consumer, don't get stuck with empty promises. Do your research.

Add to myYahoo!Mets ace Johan Santana will be shut out of the majors this season. The lefty is still working his way back from shoulder surgery exactly a year ago Wednesday. The Mets say he will pitch a simulated game this Sunday in Fort Myers, Fla., and then go to the instructional league. The Mets expect the [...]

Thanks to a two-game sweep of the Twins (part of a four game winning streak overall) the Royals now have a four game lead in the fourth place race. It isn't what anyone really wants or cares about (I think) but I know many of us have no love for the Twins, so seeing them humbled a bit is no bad thing.
And draft position? Who cares about draft position. Dayton doesn't even need a 2012 draft. Or a 2013 draft. The system is that good.
Observations related to today:

Colorado Rockies
@ Milwaukee Brewers

Miller Park
Kevin Millwood vs Shaun Marcum
Clear. Winds blowing out to center field at 10-15 m.p.h. Game time temperature around 55.
The Rockies have to win at least 12 of their last 15 to avoid another losing record for 2011. Conversely, there are about a half dozen teams that could conceivably pass Colorado in the standings between now and the end of the year if the club's brand of futility proves about as rank as it did for the final 13 of 2010. So you tell me which you'd rather have in 2012, Kevin Millwood, or a top ten draft pick...
GO ROCKIES!!! or... GO DRAFT PICK!!!!
