He got hit in the groin by a ground ball hit by Chicago's Alexei Ramirez on Wednesday. He could be out for the season, and may require surgery. Ouch.

It Might Be All Over For the Twins In 2009

After the Minnesota Twins lost to the Chicago White Sox last year in a one-game playoff, I was one of the many people who thought the Twins would come back in 2009 and have a tremendous season. After all, there was a lot to be excited about if you were a Twins fan headed into [...]

Joba To Start Sunday Against the Mariners

According to Michael Kay on his ESPN Radio show that Joba Chamberlain's Wednesday start has been moved up to Sunday against the Mariners. He will then likely make his next start at Fenway.

Just stop screwing with the kid. Pick a plan and stick to it. It's ridiculous when one day everyone is saying "we have a plan and it's mapped out", and then the next day the plan changes.

Joba To Start Sunday Against the M's, Then Gets
Long Break

According to Michael Kay on his ESPN Radio show that Joba Chamberlain's Wednesday start has been moved up to Sunday against the Mariners. He then won't pitch again until the Yankees face the Rangers in the Bronx the Tuesday after the Red Sox series.

Just stop screwing with the kid. Pick a plan and stick to it. It's ridiculous when one day everyone is saying "we have a plan and it's mapped out", and then the next day the plan changes.

Friday Rockpile: It feels good to be on top (of
the Wildcard standings, anyway), doesn't it

Barmes, along with Troy Tulowitzki, is part of the middle infield that packs more punch than any this side of Philly.

Barmes, along with Troy Tulowitzki, is part of the middle infield that packs more punch than any this side of Philly.

In what has been a feel good season (since the beginning of June, anyway), it seems as if there is a constant influx of positive Rockies-related stories. Today is no different.

Cook’s pen goes well, will make Saturday start : All Things Rockies Colorado
Some very good news out of the training room for the Rockies. Also, the article mentions the possibility of Alan Embree returning to pitch in September, and rules out a return for Jeff Francis - at least in the regular season.

Marquis steady as Rocks hit the road - The Denver Post
Patrick Saunders checks in with a piece detailing the importance of Colorado's rock-solid starting rotation as they hit the road for a big series at Florida.

Kiszla: Diamonds at your feet - The Denver Post
Mark Kiszla discusses the fact that even though the Rockies are a championship-caliber baseball team, they still play second fiddle to the Denver Broncos of the NFL. I don't live in Denver, and even I know that the Rox will probably never overtake the Broncos in the hearts of the majority of Colorado sports fans.

Barmes-tulo tandem best in his eyes - The Denver Post
Jim Tracy compares the middle infield combination of Troy Tulowitzki and Clint Barmes to the Phillies' double play tandem, in terms of power and defense.

Inside the Colorado Rockies " Time to Talk Contract? | Major League Baseball in Denver
Tracy Ringolsby wants people's opinions on whether or not the Rockies should extend Dan O'Dowd's contract, and when they should do so.

Top NL Rookie Hitters | FanGraphs Baseball
Dexter Fowler is one of five NL ROY candidates (among hitters), according to Marc Hulet of FanGraphs.

Street takes it easy as Rox swing away | ColoradoRockies.com: News
Save opportunities have been few and far between as of late for Huston Street. Getting him work for the sake of getting him work, though, may be a good idea, despite his performance against the Cubs on Monday. However, Jim Tracy feels differently - he thinks that street will be rested and ready to go for when the Rockies really need him.

On a side note, I think Jim Tracy should stop comparing his Rockies players to former Dodgers - like he did in the previous article (Eric Gagne) and in this one (Robin Ventura) - for no other reason than the fact that I despise that team. That's all.

Mets In The News Aug. 14, 2009

After an off-day yesterday, the Mets return from a 2-5 road trip visiting two of the worst teams in baseball. San Diego and Arizona looked like All-Stars compared to this Mets team. Sadly, we now need to include the Mets as one of the worst teams in baseball. The Giants are in town this weekend, [...]
