The Pirates scratched left-hander Phil Dumatrait from his scheduled start against St. Louis on Saturday due to an aching shoulder and recalled Double-A pitcher Yoslan Herrera to face the Cardinals. The Pirates made four roster moves following their 6-0 loss to the Cardinals on Friday night, also optioning right-hander Luis Munoz back to Double-A Altoona [...]

Add to myYahoo!From David Singh:
Although Darrell Rasner has struggled to maintain his early-season success, the Yankees starter believes that he may have discovered the root of his recent problems on the mound.
Rasner said that playing catch in recent days, he learned that there was something wrong with his mechanics. Now, having made the proper adjustments -- shortening his pitching motion -- he believes he should have better command of his pitches.
"I was playing with it a little [on Thursday], and playing catch, [the ball] was coming out of my hand [the right way]," Rasner said. "It's been a while since it's come out of my hand right. I feel like I made some ground.
"The ball coming out of the hand is everything to me," Rasner continued. "It's not going to show up on the radar gun. It's not that, but when it comes out of my hand right, it has a little more life and a little more depth. That's what I'm looking for."
For some reason I think I've heard something like this from Rasner before. I remember him saying he worked on some things during the week and he made some adjustments. I think it was before the start in Pittsburgh when he got bombed. Whatever he claimed he fixed didn't help him on that day.
Anyway I hope this time he really has corrected his problems and can give the Yankees a good start.

Add to myYahoo!Luis Mendoza walked off the mound for the last time Friday night with far different emotions than he had just four days earlier. Mendoza rebounded from a rough outing to strike out eight over six innings, Josh Hamilton drove in two more runs and the Texas Rangers beat the Chicago White Sox 7-2. Pitching on [...]

Add to myYahoo!Kyle Lohse is one of the NL’s biggest surprise stories of the season, so his latest effective start wasn’t exactly an unexpected development. This was: The St. Louis Cardinals put together one of their best offensive games in weeks, and it all began with a big inning that already looked to be over. Lohse limited [...]

Add to myYahoo!Short recap tonight because I can.
Richmond 3, Charlotte 4
Brandon Jones must have heard me talking about him last night. Either way if he can be consistent in the Show like he has shown in the minors in the past, he IS our LF of the future. At least until you decide what to do with Gorkys and Schafer.
Mississippi @ Jacksonville - postponed due to rain
You know I actually look forward to reading about M-Braves games every night. Who would have thunk it two months ago.
Salem 9, Myrtle Beach 10 - Game 1
It is a scary thought indeed when Tyler Flowers starts hitting for power at home. This is probably one of the best lines I have seen this season from any hitter. Also he now has a 66/67 K/BB ratio on the season. That is just awesome. Eric Campbell continues to have good everything but batting average.
Salem @ Myrtle Beach - Game 2 postponed due to rain
A lot of this going on.
Kannapolis 4, Rome 2
You know I had forgotten but Freddie Freeman is in his 18 year old season as well. He is one of the best first base prospects in the minors at this point and has been better than Jason Heyward in the past month. Also I was looking at our community prospect list from last year and would like to point out that I was the only person here that ranked him in the top 25. Eat it :-)
Burlington 2, Danville 12
I think Chris Shehan heard my praise yesterday as well! Jon Gilmore continues to make a case for a repromotion and L. V. Ware's plethora of tools shows through for a game.
Yankees 8, Braves 3
9th rd pick Kyle Farrell got ripped in this game. Nothing else of notice really.
