Uggla Extends Streak; Hudson, Braves Top Mets

Tim Hudson finally beat the Mets this year and Dan Uggla extended his hitting streak to 26 games in a 4-1 victory over the Mets.

Hudson had lost his last two starts against the Mets and was trailing early in this one. Daniel Murphy singled with two outs in the first and scored on David Wright's double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.

However, the Braves put together a brief rally in the third against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. Alex Gonzalez singled leading off and one out later, Jose Constanza tripled to right to drive him in. Michael Bourn's sacrifice fly gave the Braves a 2-1 lead.

That's the way it stayed for much of the game, but not without several scoring opportunities. Freddie Freeman doubled leading off the fourth to extend his hitting streak to 19 games, but did not advance any further. The Mets offense was able to load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the inning with a walk, a double and a hit batsman, but a fly ball out ended the threat.

Hudson allowed three hits and two walks in seven innings with a pair of strikeouts. Dickey struck out five in seven innings.

Carrying a one-run lead in the eighth, the Braves added some insurance. Freeman and Martin Prado stood on base with two outs and Dan Uggla batting, his hitting streak in jeopardy having been held hitless against Dickey. Uggla came through with a two-run single against Ryota Igarashi to up the lead to 4-1.

Jonny Venters and Craig Kimbrel each pitched scoreless frames with Kimbrel earning his 33rd save.
