Giants have their best offensive night of the
season

They are beating the Astros 13-0 in the 8th. This practically doubles their offensive output for the entire season! Their previous high this season was 11 runs, so this is amazing for them. Pablo Sandoval has a triple and a homer and Travis Ishikawa added a home run and three RBI. With their lineup, though, they'll probably still have to win games 3-2 all year without some more reliable power hitters.

07.03.09 – Minor League Report

TOM O’SHEAS’ MINOR LEAGUE REPORT      7-03-09

THE OGDEN RAPTORS     ROOKIE    

The Raptors crush Orem 11-2.

CASTILLO (W, 1-2, 4.50), pitched a quality start going 6 innings and giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits, 0 walks and 5 Ks.  MILLER (0.00) went 2 innings of shut out relief giving up 1 hit, 1 walk and managed 4 Ks.   GAUDI (7.36), finished pitching one perfect inning with 2 Ks.

SANDS (.489) ! crushed his first triple, and 4 doubles were hit by 3 Raptors:  YOUNT (.346), CAVAZOS-GALVEZ (.298), hit 2, his 5th and 6th, and YNOA (.135) hit his 2nd.ALB-DUKES

SANDS went 4-6, while CAVAZOS-GALVEZ, YOUNT, JACOBS (.375), and  ERICKSON (.286),  all had 3 hit games!

We’ve got some clout in the Rookie League!!!

 

THE ALBUQUERQUE ISOTOPES    AAA

The Isotopes beat Memphis 4-3.

ALVARADO (W, 6-6, 3.62), got the win going 5 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits, 1 walk an d 7 Ks.  CHOI (2.10), SCHLICTING (0.00), THREETS (1.69) and STRICKLAND (S, 16, 3.71) all pitched well in relief to preserve the win .

BROWN (.307), hit his 15th dinger in the 1st inning.  DEWITT (.246), hit his 15th double and HOFFMAN (.274), hit his 7th 2-bagger.  Only CLOSSER (.358) had a multi-hit game going 2-4.

 

THE CHATTANOOGA LOOKOUTS       AA     

The Lookouts beat Carolina 4-3.

DURBIN (W, 1-2, 2.04), pitched a quality start going 7 innings and giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits, 2 walks and recorded 5 Ks.  FELIX (3.23), and SARTOR (3.02), pitched the last 2 innings to preserve the victory.

MITCHELL (.199), hit his 7th tater of the season.  TOMLIN (.310), whacked his 3rd triple.  TOMLIN  and LAMBO (.269), had 2 hit nights.

 

THE INLAND EMPIRE 66ERS   A     ADVANCED  

The 66ers beat Visalia 6-3.

SEXTON (W, 4-8, 2.91), got the win going 6 innings (quality start) and gave up just 1 earned run on 6 hits, 4 walks and recorded 6 Ks.  MCCARTER (2.70), and PRADO (3.20), held Visalia the rest of the way giving up no earned runs in the process.

ROBINSON (.296), hit his 11th home run in the 1st inning.  GARABEDIAN (.270), hit his 8th double. HERRERA (.331), and VAN SLYKE (.311) had 3 hit games.

 

THE GREAT LAKES LOONS     A     

 

Loons win 5-3 in 12 innings over Lansing.

NATHAN EOVALDI (3.90), pitched  5 shutout innings om 5 hits, 0 walks and fanning 7.  ETHAN MARTIN (4.50), blew the save pitching like a no talent bum, but GARCIA (2.82),  pitched 3 perfect innings striking out 4 and BOOTHE (W, 1-3, 4.54) pitched one prefect inning striking out 2 to nail down the win.

DEE GORDON (.315), smacked his 2nd round tripper of the season, MATT WALLACH (.239), hit his 13th 2-bagger.

GORDON went 4-6;  and WALLACH went 2-2.
