The 33-year-old signed with Arizona before the season and became the everyday shortstop when Stephen Drew broke his ankle on July 20. Bloomquist hit .266 with four homers and 26 RBIs in 97 games.

Add to myYahoo!Arizona Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall will undergo surgery for prostate cancer next week. The team announced Tuesday that Hall will have the operation on Nov. 8. The 42-year-old Hall disclosed in late September that the disease was caught in the early stages and he expects a full recovery.
