• Something I missed earlier in the week while I was lollygagging around Chicago: Delwyn Young was named PCL Offensive Player of the Week for his 3-homer, 9 RBI final week of the season. Andrew Lambo got the nod for Jacksonville; he also slugged three homers and drove in 12. Hank Conger won with Rancho in his final full week with that team, knocking four longballs and plating ten. Anthony Delmonico of Ogden won the award for the Pioneer League, also with a four-homer week and nine RBIs.
• Jacobo Meque of Jacksonville won Pitcher of the Week for a trio of shutdown relief appearances, bagging nine strikeouts in six innings. Cedar Rapids' Jose Perez got the award with 12 strikeouts over two scoreless starts.
• The Burlington Bees swept the Kane County Cougars, and will be the competition for the Cedar Rapids Kernels in the first round of the Midwest League postseason.
• Brandon Wood made Baseball America's Minor League All-Star Team on the second team because he repeated AAA. AA Jacksonville's shortstop Ivan DeJesus also made the second team. (Incidentally, last week's Prospect Hot Sheet turned out to be the final one for the year.)

The Bees are onewin away from a date with the Texas League finals thanks to theirsecond straight win over Northern Arkansas. The Travs pounded BlakeWood for six runs over three innings, and that was basically thegame. Hank Conger came through with the bags loaded in the first withan RBI homer, and Mark Trumbo homered in the third to chase home CoreySmith and Ben Johnson.

Relievers Francisco Rodriguez and Barrett Browning made it closer bycombining to give up three runs in the eighth. Rodriguez loaded thebases on a walk and two singles, but got Juan Richardson to pop out tosecond; that brought on Browning, who surrendered a scoring run on abalk and two more on a double to Cory Aldridge, allowing all hisinherited baserunners to score. That was it for the Naturals, as theTravs threw closer Rafael Rodriguez to slam the door with four outs togo.
