Baseball America's Yankees Top 10 Prospects

This comes out online in two days, but River Ave. Blues has it early:

  1. Austin Jackson,OF
  2. Jesus Montero, C
  3. Andrew Brackman, RHP
  4. Austin Romine, C
  5. Dellin Betances, RHP
  6. Zach McAllister, RHP
  7. Al Aceves, RHP
  8. Phil Coke, LHP
  9. Mark Melancon, RHP
  10. Brad Suttle, 3B
I'm pretty much in agreement here, except for Aceves and Coke. They're both solid players, but have low ceilings. While he hasn't done much lately, Humberto Sanchez has a much higher ceiling than either of them, and you could also make a case for recent draft picks like Jeremy Bleich. Even if they do belong on the list, Melancon should definitely be higher than them. Now, on to the rest of the list. Aside from the two I just mentioned, Austin Jackson is the only player to see time above Hi-A ball. The Yankees have a talented farm system, but most of that talent is located in the low minors. When these players mature and reach the higher levels, this could be one of the best systems in baseball.
