Jonathan Herrera scored on a Marco Scutaro single in the eleventh inning to give the Colorado Rockies an 11-10 victory over the Washington Nationals. A game that saw the Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals start by scoring 19 runs combined in the first five frames, finished with the two teams scoring just one apiece in the last six, with the Rockies coming out one better.

The Rockies traded their heavy blows with the Nationals for the first five innings of Thursday's game with the Rockies hanging to their slim 10-9 lead. The Rockies scored five in the first inning alone thanks largely to a Tyler Colvin three run home run and continued the onslaught by adding five more runs over the next four innings. However, Washington hung close, answering with a five spot of their own in the third inning and continuing their rally with four more in the fifth. Both teams settled down in the pitching department and zeroed out on offense the next three innings, but Bryce Harper tied the game with a solo home run off of Rafael Betancourt in the top of the ninth inning. However, Adam Ottavino came on to pitch two more innings of scoreless relief for Colorado leading up to Herrera's score. Colvin had four hits and finished a double short of the cycle. Chris Nelson, Carlos Gonzalez and Scutaro each added three hits apiece, including the game-winner from Scutaro in the eleventh.

Starter Josh Outman once again struggled with giving up its in general after turning the lineup over once, but in particular the one big hit, this time a Michael Morse three run jack in the third.
