It may not be “Until Death Do Us Part,” but the group of players we have will probably be the basic group we end up with, “For Better or for Worse.” While a trade is possible, up until now, to his credit, Ned has been loathe to trade away the farm, and it doesn’t seem likely he will do it now. He has signed a lot of broken-down, underachieving, disabled-list dweller types, but what he hasn’t done is much more important. As maddening as it is, our youth will be served, just maybe not this instant! We just have to be patient and I for one, am not patient - “God give me patience, and give it to me now!”Yes, patience is not my thing. I have been known to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but I guess the prudent thing to do is to be patient. It doesn’t seem likely we can win this year, but like John Kruk said last night on Baseball Tonight, the Dodgers do have the talent to win the division and Torre and Bowa are guys who can help them do that. I’m headed to Cincinnati tonight to see Billingsley hopefully step up another notch and shut down the Big Red Machine. I’ll arrive when the gates open and have a bunch of pictures from BP and the game. My son’s 9th birthday is tomorrow, so we are staying overnight and going to King’s Island on Wednesday.
What is the most maddening is that our young players have very good batting averages, unlike the Diamondbacks, but we just fail to hit with runners in scoring position. For the most part (except for Jackson), the “Backs young players are hitting below .266 down to .219 for Byrnes. They have just been playing longer.
We have to be patient!
LaRoche has to play!
Play LaRoche, Joe!
Trade Kent, Ned!
Do it now!
