Astros Sign Mike Hampton

MyFoxHouston is reporting that the Astros have come to an agreement with free agent Mike Hampton.

UPDATE:  Footer is reporting it too.

He was looking for a one-year, no option deal so he could build up his value.

It'll be tough to make a judgment on this one until we know the terms of the deal, but if he's healthy and can stay that way for a full season, he might be a bargain.

First, thanks to Astros Andy for being on the ball with this.

Hampton had previously let it be known that he wanted a 1 year deal, not an incentives based contract, which I guess is what we gave him.  Rosenthal had this:

Hampton has agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract with the chance to earn another $2 million in appearance-based incentives, according to a major-league source.

Not a bad deal in my eyes.
