A few weeks ago, we compiled a list of rankings from three MLB Draft Experts, to come up with a consensus top 30 prospects. At the time of that post, Baseball America's top 50 hadn't been updated in quite some time, resulting in fast risers, like Jonathan Gray, being left off the board completely. As you can imagine, Baseball America's top 50 skewed the results significantly.
Since then, Baseball America has released a new top 50, and I've re-worked the consensus top 30, to give a more accurate snapshot of the rise and fall of draft prospects throughout the season.
It's interesting how similar Keith Law and Chris Crawford's rankings are, compared to Baseball America's, which are vastly different. In the coming months, the minor league/draft staff at TCB will compile our own top 75, and I can't wait to compare our board to the various experts.
What do you guys think of the new consensus top 30? Do you tend to agree with the ESPN guys, or Baseball America? Notice any glaring omissions? I still can't believe Phillip Ervin is off the list entirely. DJ Peterson is another interesting omission.
